Why The Sanity Annex

The Sanity Annex was founded by Mariano Vassalluzzo, a London-based analyst and writer, on a simple conviction: populism wins on silence.

This is not a place for neutrality. Populism, authoritarianism, and the political forces reshaping liberal democracy deserve to be named, analysed, and opposed — in writing, in satire, and in the objects people carry into the world.

The Sanity Annex publishes long-form analytical writing on Substack, drawing on historical sources and original research. It also produces anti-populist merchandise — because ideas need to occupy physical space too.
